The Most Famous Porn Name is Attributed to an FBI Agent (or a Girl from Texas)

I'm trying not to sit still for too long. I don't count being at the computer. That, to me, isn't idle. To me, idle is watching TV or reading or watching a movie, or simply being. Being on the internet can be idle, although, usually I'm doing something. Writing, reading and responding to blogs, editing movies or music. I think that I am increasingly having trouble being passive. Some might call it relaxation. I've taken on the mantra, "I can sleep when I'm dead." Which isn't entirely true for me since I slept until 11:00 today.

Mark Felt is my hero. Not because he lead to the impeaching of a dishonest president, which I admire him for. But because he did the coolest thing imaginable. He was this unknown informant who broke a huge scandle and no one had a clue who he was for thirty years. I guess he stayed under wraps for his and his families protection. I suppose that he finally decided that it was time, that people had enough distance from the situation that it would not matter anymore. I wonder what made him want to finally come out of the non-gay closet. Did he feel compelled, or was it just a goof? I'm sure that he answers these questions in an interview somewhere that I haven't seen. But isn't it cool? Could anyone get away with such secrecy, nowadays. It's seems to me that anyone who was involved would want the press. It takes a very unique kind of person to say, I don't care it I get any recognition, I just think that the truth should be out there. Of course in that political climate, he may not have been regarded so highly, you think? I know that some people may call him a "stool-pigeon" or a "dirty-rat" or a "snitch" or something like that, but I think you can only really blame someone for telling if his or her motives are selfish or out of fear. I think one can safely say that niether of these is true. Of course, who knows what he may have gotten for his information. Gold?

Indeed. If only good nicknames were hannded out to all deserving cultural icons. For starters we could start calling Barry Bonds "Giant Head"....er...wait, is that someones porn name already?

Remember the time we were on the animal show, and you brought the ticklish bunny, and I brod the bird and the giraffe?

What If I told you I still had a tape of that.

True, I was the frontman for Ethans Revenge(no comeback tour has been scheduled).

I also have pictures of us chilling in the wooded areas.

What if I told you I was going to be a director at CBBC for a week in July?

All of this to say, I wouldn't have originally posted on your site if I didn't know ye. Good to find old friends in the blogging community.

You are beautiful.

Kyle,
One minor problem with your comments about "Deepthroat." If Mr. Felt had gone through proper channels I would consider him a hero. However, since he committed a felony offense by leaking private, confidential, and classified FBI information to the media, so did Woodstein (Woodward and Bernstein) in receiving this private, confidential, and classified FBI information, I have a major problem considering his actions as heroic. There were proper legal avenues he could have taken, but that would have probably cost him his job as the number two man at the FBI. There is so much corruption in the FBI and this is just one more evidence of that fact. A hero is one who is willing to do the right thing even if it means losing his job and reputation. Hiding behind some false identity is not heroic.

I'm with you, Randy. The end does not jusify the means.

Point taken all. I explained to Randy, in a separate email, that I was not aware of the correct channels. With that said, I don't really care. I was mostly impressed with the mystery and folklore that came out of the scandle. Who is this Deep Throat? Who did he work for? etc. Unanswered questions on that scale are intriguing to me.

Mr. Slater, I completely agree the the outcome should not justify the means when it comes to most things. Such was my biggest problem with the Iraq invasion. Their is open genocide elsewhere that we ignore. Why Iraq?

Regarding Nixon and Deep Throat -- take a look at this column by Ben Stein:

http://www.spectator.org/dsp_article.asp?art_id=8242

Here is part of it:

"Can anyone even remember now what Nixon did that was so terrible? He ended the war in Vietnam, brought home the POW's, ended the war in the Mideast, opened relations with China, started the first nuclear weapons reduction treaty, saved Eretz Israel's life, started the Environmental Protection Administration. Does anyone remember what he did that was bad?

Oh, now I remember. He lied. He was a politician who lied. How remarkable. He lied to protect his subordinates who were covering up a ridiculous burglary that no one to this date has any clue about its purpose. He lied so he could stay in office and keep his agenda of peace going. That was his crime. He was a peacemaker and he wanted to make a world where there was a generation of peace. And he succeeded.

That is his legacy. He was a peacemaker. He was a lying, conniving, covering up peacemaker. He was not a lying, conniving drug addict like JFK, a lying, conniving war starter like LBJ, a lying, conniving seducer like Clinton -- a lying, conniving peacemaker. That is Nixon's kharma."

So the point that Ben Stien is trying to make is that all politicians lie, and are pretty crummy. Big secret, right? What I love is that, depending on the way you look at it and how you slant the retoric Nixon is this peaceloving hero of millions? Not buying it. Presidents are human. They do good, and they also do bad. Clinton did much good for the country in the interest of peace and the economy and the environment. He was also an adulterer (which seems to be the only thing that people have a real problem with). Bush truly loves this country and wants to see it improve. He has done some good things for the people he serves. Trying to think...Oh, he began to help unite us in the aftermath of 9/11 (but blew that to peices soon enough). Bush stands by his convictions and doesn't play politics. There you go. Do I really have to mention his negatives? LBJ fought for civil rights, but yes he was a war monger, also. But let's not pretend that Nixon was any better than these other presidents. Politicians will shoot straight when they are out of office, but that's about it. You won't have a job unless you grease a few palms, which is why I'll never be in politics. I love hearing Clinton, Gore, Dole, and others who are out of public office talk. They don't play Mr. Nice Guy anymore. They don't have to.
